NIB finances the new justice centre in Kristianstad, Sweden
The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Swedish real estate company Intea Fastigheter AB have signed a 14-year loan agreement for the new prison and police headquarters in Kristianstad, Sweden.
The SEK 1 billion (EUR 90.9 million) loan co-finances the modern justice centre, which is intended to work as a model for replication in Sweden. Intea’s share of the project’s total cost was SEK 1.7 billion.
The new centre brings together several key public authorities under one roof, including the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The co-location is designed to enhance operational efficiency, foster inter-agency collaboration, and improve security resilience. Sharing infrastructure reduces the need for transport logistics, while the modern digital infrastructure supports evidence and case management. The centre is already operational and is equipped with enhanced security standards.
“With a 14-year loan, we are securing long-term favourable terms for a strategic investment with a clear sustainability profile. This is the fourth loan Intea has signed with NIB, which confirms our continued strong collaboration,” says Magnus Ekström, CFO of Intea Fastigheter.
“Intea Fastigheter AB is a long-standing client of NIB. The new facility combines productivity and sustainability, with both buildings targeting a BREAAM Excellent sustainability certification,” says André Küüsvek, President and CEO of NIB.
