Project

The credit facility has been provided to the Municipality of Gävle to finance investments in the Atlas wastewater treatment plant. The project will replace the existing Duvbacken wastewater treatment plant and provide modern treatment capacity for up to 150,000 population equivalents.

The total project cost is estimated to be approximately SEK 3 billion, with NIB and Kommuninvest each financing 50% of the investment.

Fulfilment of NIB’s mission

The project contributes to productivity by increasing wastewater treatment capacity from 120,000 to 150,000 population equivalents and introducing modern automated process management systems. The investment is expected to improve operational efficiency and reduce the risk of wastewater treatment becoming a bottleneck for housing, commercial and industrial development in the Gävle region.
