Project

The loan has been provided for Jernhusen AB’s project to construct Park Central and Grand Central — two new, station-linked buildings in the area around Gothenburg Central Station, which aim to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification.

Park Central will be a seven-floor mixed-use building with a new eastern entrance to Centralen. Grand Central will function as a new entrance building to Gothenburg Central Station, providing direct access to West Link platforms and space for passenger services.

The combined investment amounts to approximately SEK 3.5 billion, with both buildings scheduled for completion by December 2026.

Fulfilment of NIB's mandate

The projects form part of Gothenburg’s Centralstaden redevelopment to relieve capacity constraints and improve urban mobility. They will add three new entrances and exits, strengthen rail, bus, tram and bicycle connections, and accommodate projected growth of daily train movements by 67% and passengers between 47–100% by 2035 compared with today.

Both buildings target BREEAM Outstanding and are fully eligible under NIB Environmental Bond criteria (Green buildings).
