André Küüsvek appointed new President of NIB

The Board of Directors of the Nordic Investment Bank has appointed André Küüsvek (Estonia) President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. Mr Küüsvek will take up his appointment on 1 April 2021. He will succeed Henrik Normann (Denmark), who has been President and CEO of NIB since April 2012 and will now retire from the Bank.

André Küüsvek is currently working as a Managing Director of Central Asia at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He has over 25 years of experience in international finance in various positions at the EBRD. Prior to that he worked in leading private banks in Estonia and Germany.

“André Küüsvek will bring substantial international experience to NIB from both the private and public sector. His clear vision and strategic skills will foster the future development of NIB. With him the Bank is in good hands to continue the journey to support the sustainability and prosperity of the Nordic-Baltic region”, says Esther Finnbogadóttir, Chair of the Board of Directors.

The President is appointed by the Board of Directors for a term of five years at a time. Mr Küüsvek will be the first NIB President from a Baltic country. The Bank was established 1975 by the Nordic countries. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania became members in 2005.
