On 17 November, NIB participated in panel discussions at the UN climate summit (COP22) in Marrakech, Morocco. The events were hosted by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The panel debate “De-risking Climate Finance” discussed what government can do to engage private investors for climate-related projects in developing countries. At this event, Norway’s Cicero Consulting and the Climate Policy Initiative research institute presented their conclusions on instruments for climate finance. Thomas Wrangdahl, NIB’s First Vice-President and Head of Lending, moderated the discussion.
The debate “Nordic Approaches to Mobilizing Climate Finance” provided a Nordic perspective on how to mobilise finance consistent with a “well below 2°C” pathway. The event hosted presentations of interim results from a Nordic study on climate finance flows in line with the Paris Agreement and the OECD’s take on green infrastructure investment. The panel included experts from the OECD, Nordic private and public investment funds, and research institutions. NIB was represented by Thomas Wrangdahl.
