Project
The loan has been provided for financing the acquisition of slaughterhouses and meat processing plants run by Swedish KLS Livsmedel Ekonomisk Förening and Ugglarps Group and the construction of a new facility for meat processing and packaging in Sweden. The Danish Crown Group is Europe’s largest meat processing company and the world’s largest meat exporter. After the acquisition, Danish Crown will become the second largest slaughterhouse in Sweden.
Sustainability summary
The project has known and manageable environmental impacts. The new plant is to be constructed in accordance with Swedish legislation and will be in line with NIB’s environmental policy. All environmental permits for the acquired plants are in place and there are no pending issues with the authorities.
