The loan has been provided for an R&D investment programme for 2012–2015. The programme includes advanced research, development and testing of new technologies and filter products at the company’s main R&D hub in Trosa, Sweden. With these measures, the company is aiming to maintain its leading position within the industry and to develop more efficient air filtration products, reduce the level of air pollution and its negative health impacts.
The Camfil group was founded in 1963 and now has 3,400 employees. The company is a world leader in the development and production of air filters and clean air solutions. Camfil runs 23 production units and R&D centres in six countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
Camfil’s cutting-edge technology is characterised by the fact that the company designs, develops and builds the equipment used for R&D and in the production facilities. The outcome of this R&D work is likely to contribute to more efficient air filtration products, as well as reductions in the level of air pollution. The company’s R&D efforts may also lead to knowledge spill-overs having a positive effect on the industry.
The R&D project does not give rise to any significant environmental impact.
