Project
The loan has been provided to finance the construction of the House of Nuclear Safety for the state-run VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and the renovation of four governmental offices, three in Helsinki and one in Turku. The renovation programme is expected to increase energy efficiency, improve the efficiency of office space and reduce operational costs.
Senaatti-kiinteistöt is a state-owned enterprise under the Finnish Ministry of Finance, providing property services to governmental customers. It is responsible for 10,800 premises in Finland.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The renovation projects are expected to help reduce operational costs associated with the provision of public services. More efficient usage of building space will free up resources, which can be used for other purposes. The new research centre will support local innovation and development of skills in co-operation with universities, research institutes and companies.
Sustainability summary
Senaatti-kiinteistöt has internal procedures for renovation and new construction projects. For all sub-projects, an environmental review is performed, environmental targets are set and construction site monitoring will be performed. Energy efficiency has been established as one of the targets for the project.
