Project
The 15-year-maturity loan totalling EUR 20 million has been provided for financing the city’s investments into the development of public infrastructure and public transport. The investment programme includes the construction of a bypass road south of the city, as part of the international transport corridor IXB (Kiev-Minsk-Vilnius-Klaipeda), the construction and reconstruction of streets to improve safety and driving conditions, as well as the purchase of new buses and trolleybuses.
Sustainability summary
The projects included in the City of Vilnius investment programme are considered to comply with NIB’s environmental policy and guidelines. The bypass will divert the flow of transit traffic from the city centre, which is expected to result in some reductions of emissions, while the new public transport fleet will follow EU legislation with respect to emission levels from transport vehicles.
