Project

The 10-year-maturity loan totalling EUR 10 million has been provided for the reconstruction and expansion of the company’s recycling plant in Kerava.

The project includes upgrading recycling facilities for waste from the construction, retail, service and general industry sectors as well as paper and cardboard waste from households. The expansion will increase the amount of waste processed at the plants by 30% to 220,000 tonnes a year. New technology will make it possible to reuse up to 90% of the waste received by the Kerava recycling park (up from the current 75%).

Lassila & Tikanoja specialises in environmental management as well support services for properties and plants. The company runs 23 recycling plants in Finland and one in Latvia. Four to six more recycling plants will be finished in coming years.

Sustainability summary

Lassila & Tikanoja’s investment in the expansion and modernisation of its waste recycling plant in Kerava is estimated at having positive effects on the environment as a whole. The amount of waste recycled and used as fuel in energy production will increase. The project has received the necessary environmental permits.
