The loan to the state-owned Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank) has been provided for the construction of the gas-fuelled Kolomenskaya heat and power plant. The new power plant's annual output capacity will total 136 MW of electricity and up to 171 Gcal of heat.
The project is important for securing the power supply to the city of Moscow. Swedish Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB will supply three gas turbine generators for the project.
The installation of three gas turbines equipped with heat exchangers will increase the fuel utilisation rate. Apart from this, the main environmental issues include emissions of NOx and ambient noise. The NOx emissions will be in line with Best Available Technique standards as new technology will be used. The ambient noise will be minimised in accordance with local regulations.
