Project

The 7-year-maturity loan totalling EUR 30 million has been provided for building a new spare parts distribution centre in the Netherlands. Centralising the spare parts logistics will help Wärtsilä strengthen its international customer service.

The large and modern central warehouse will be located near the company’s current service unit in the Netherlands. Wärtsilä’s investment in the new distribution centre will amount to approximately EUR 70 million.

Wärtsilä is a leading supplier and service provider of ship power solutions, and flexible power plants for decentralised power generation markets. The group has more than 17,000 employees at 160 locations in 70 countries around the world.

Sustainability summary

Wärtsilä’s investments in the new logistics centre in the Netherlands are regarded as having a marginal and manageable effect on the environment. The main environmental impacts are some reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases from transportation, when the logistical functions are centralised, compared to the impact of many smaller distribution centres. All the investments are to comply with applicable laws and regulations and receive the necessary permits.
