Alexander Ruf, Director of Funding and Investor Relations, was named Best Funding Officer

NIB has received GlobalCapital’s MTN Award for Best Nordic MTN Issuer 2025, recognising the Bank’s activity in the private placement market. In the same peer-voted process, Alexander Ruf, Director of Funding and Investor Relations, was named Best Funding Officer.

The awards are based on votes from market participants across the medium term note (MTN) and private placement community, with NIB nominated alongside several larger and more frequent issuers.

In 2025, NIB raised EUR 9.2 billion in total funding, of which around a quarter was executed through 62 MTN and private placement transactions. These trades were issued in six currencies and placed with investors in eleven countries.

“It is, admittedly, quite nice to walk away with two awards — Best Nordic MTN Issuer and Best Funding Officer. But while I’m happy and surprised by the personal recognition, the work behind these transactions is not a one man show. The award really belongs to the entire NIB team who make these bespoke deals possible,” says Alex.

“MTN funding helps to access investor demand different from benchmark funding and therefore add diversification. NIB is a very well established and responsive issuer in this market, so the award nomination is certainly well deserved. Congratulations from everyone at Credit Agricole CIB,” says Toby Croasdell, Crédit Agricole CIB.

“Nordic Investment Bank is a key player in the private placement market, constantly delivering value to investors through agility and market insigh. By operating across various currencies and formats, NIB accesses a large investor base, while their team continuously monitors market developments to stay ahead of the curve,” says François Tavel, Citi.
