NIB approves new Sustainability Policy
The Bank’s new Sustainability Policy and Guidelines have entered into force on 21 March 2012.
The policy covers the environmental and social aspects of the sustainability concept. It replaces the environmental policy and guidelines adopted in 2008.
“The new name should better mirror NIB’s mission. Sustainability is made up of environmental, economic and social aspects,” says Johan Ljungberg, Head of Environment at NIB.
The policy and guidelines provide criteria for assessing the environmental and social impacts of every loan application. A proposed project can be rejected due to non-compliance with the policy, which also specifies activities not eligible for NIB financing.
