New website to support NIB’s energy efficiency initiative in Russia

NIB’s Russia Energy Efficiency Programme (REEP) has launched a website, www.reepnib.org, aimed at the programme’s potential customers in Russia—companies interested in improving energy efficiency of district heating networks and industrial facilities.
The website provides an overview of eligibility requirements for potential applicants as well as contact information for more details. The website also supports better understanding of energy efficiency and offers inspiring examples of relevant projects that were implemented in other countries. The website is available in Russian and English.
“The plan is to make the REEP website one of the central reference points for those who seek to improve the use of energy at their enterprises in Russia. Raising awareness and consultations are crucial objectives of the entire programme that is also set to provide additional financing for energy efficiency projects,” says Igor Kovtun, NIB’s General Representative in Russia.
NIB launched REEP earlier this year with the objective of increasing awareness of energy efficiency in Russia and contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. REEP is set up to support potential borrowers in developing eligible projects. The funds will be allocated by NIB with Russian intermediary banks. Technical assistance to REEP is provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Sida and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
The resource has been developed in partnership with Grontmij AB. The Swedish consultancy company was contracted for support in project evaluation, energy and environmental audits as well as training in energy efficiency issues.
