VTB was founded in 1990 and is a leading creditor of Russian businesses with industrial enterprises and foreign trade companies as main borrowers. The bank’s principal shareholder is the Government of the Russian Federation. VTB also cooperates with other multilateral banks such as ERBD, IFC and the World Bank.
