The loan is provided to finance William Demant’s research and development activities in 2015–2016.
The company’s current R&D programme focuses on designing new wireless hearing devices and research into more effective acoustic implants. To improve the company’s technologies and products, the programme is being conducted in close cooperation with several universities and research centres as well as the corporate sector.

Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
William Demant’s R&D programme is expected to strengthen Denmark’s life sciences industry by combining engineering and medical disciplines. The company’s access to universities and global research institutions will further contribute to the creation of sector-specific knowledge and cluster linkages, as well as to securing the country’s position as a major technology supplier. Apart from maintaining a strong position in a highly competitive market, developing better hearing instruments will enable people suffering from hearing impairments to participate more fully in social and business life.
