Project
The loan programme has been provided to Sparbanken Alingsås AB for on-lending to small and medium-sized enterprises, smaller mid-caps and environmental projects in Västra Götaland County in the southwestern Sweden.
The facility mainly targets local businesses but eligible investments further include environmental projects, such as as green buildings and solar panels.
Founded in 1833, Sparbanken Alingsås is a Swedish regional independent savings bank operating five branches in the municipalities of Alingsås, Lerum, Herrljunga and Vårgårda. The bank is the 5th largest independent savings bank in Sweden in terms of total assets.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The loan facility is expected to alleviate credit constraints for small and medium-sized companies and facilitate productivity growth. The raise of the productivity in the region can also increase the competitive pressure and efficiency on the market.
Sustainability summary
Projects that are financed through a financial intermediary are required to fulfil the requirements defined in NIB’s Sustainability Policy and Guidelines. Sparbanken Alingsås will, within the scope of the bank’s credit process, ensure that necessary environmental permits and concessions are in place for operations to be financed.
