Sindal Biogas A/S

The loan has been provided for the expansion of the existing Sindal Biogas plant, increasing biomethane production capacity from 22 million Nm³ to 44 million Nm³ per year. The expansion also has the potential to include the installation of CO₂ capture and liquefaction systems at a later stage, enabling the plant to supply biogenic CO₂ for permanent geological storage or utilisation in Power‑to‑X applications. The loan supports Denmark’s transition to clean energy and is eligible under the InvestEU Clean Energy Transition Framework.

The project increases renewable gas output from 231 to 485 GWh annually. By processing up to 800,000 tonnes of agricultural and industrial waste per year, the project supports Denmark’s national climate objective of 100% green gas in the national grid and enhances circular economy practices in the agricultural sector. Environmental benefits include annual CO₂ reductions of 234,600 tonnes from biogas production. Additional emissions reductions could be achieved through the potential implementation of CO₂ capture and storage or utilisation.
