Project
The loan has been provided to finance Lithuanian Airports’ investment programme for the years 2025–2028.
The investments include:
- the implementation of new ground transportation programme
- the purchase of electric buses and installation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles
- the construction of a multi-level parking facility.
The programme aims to enhance operational capacity, improve sustainability, and support the long-term growth of Lithuania’s aviation sector.
Joint Stock Company Lithuanian Airports operates the three largest international airports in the country: Vilnius (VNO), Kaunas (KUN), and Palanga (PLQ). In 2024, Lithuanian Airports together served 6.6 million passengers.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
Investments will support the new ground transportation programme at Vilnius Airport, covering loaders, tractors, snow removal vehicles, sweepers, and other equipment, as well as electric buses and charging infrastructure.
These upgrades will help ease passenger bottlenecks and ensure uninterrupted operations in all weather conditions.

Sustainability summary
The company will provide the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to NIB for review before the sub-loan request for the construction of the new T5 terminal is granted.
