Project

The loan has been provided to the City of Stockholm to finance investments in drinking water infrastructure under the Stockholms Framtida Vatten (SFV) programme. The financing supports the renovation and expansion of water reservoirs, transmission pipelines and upgrades to treatment systems. The total cost of the investments amounts to approximately SEK 5 billion, of which NIB will finance up to SEK 2 billion. It is expected that the project will be completed in 2035.

Fulfilment of NIB's mandate

The project supports essential public infrastructure in one of the Nordic region’s most economically significant metropolitan areas. By increasing treatment capacity, upgrading ageing assets and improving transmission efficiency, the investments will enhance productivity and strengthen long-term system resilience.

Sustainability summary
