The loan is provided for financing BillerudKorsnäs AB’s R&D, innovation and product development costs for 2015–2019.
BillerudKorsnäs is focusing on developing sustainable and more energy-efficient material technologies that will improve the competitiveness of paper and board packaging in comparison with plastics and aluminium foil.
BillerudKorsnäs AB is a leading provider of renewable packaging material and solutions and is headquartered in Solna, Sweden. Established in 2012, the company employs approximately 4,300 employees and runs eight production units with sales offices in ten countries.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The company is developing new technologies that are expected to expand its range of products and services as well as the quality of its paper and board materials. The new R&D programme is intended to transform BillerudKorsnäs from being a material supplier to a solution provider.
The research programme includes objectives that are expected to lead to a reduced carbon footprint if successfully implemented.
