Project

The uncommitted credit facility has been provided to finance AB Klaipėdos energija’s 2025–2028 investment programme.

The programme consists of two components:

  • Investments in heating production and distribution infrastructure, including heating networks, renewal and expansion, electrical and automation equipment, IT systems, and other assets.
  • Investments in heating production from renewable energy and reduction of fossil fuels.

AB Klaipėdos energija is the primary supplier of thermal energy in Klaipėda and Gargždai, serving more than 76,000 consumers and supplying more than 800 GWh of heat produced by the company and purchased from other producers per year.

Fulfilment of NIB's mandate

The company will invest in infrastructure renewal, operational efficiency, compliance and business development. By investing in district heating grid renewal, production and supply process equipment, buildings, and infrastructure, AB Klaipėdos energija will enhance the security of heat supply. These investments will reduce heat losses and natural gas consumption.

Business development investments include new grid connections, as well as the expansion and digitalization of the hot water supply business. A significant part of the efficiency investments aims to reduce fossil fuel use and increase the share of renewable energy sources in heat production.

AB Klaipėdos energija is currently analysing technical and economic feasibilities for investing in a new combined heat and power (CHP) plant or alternative solutions, producing thermal energy from renewable sources in 2028.
