NIB celebrating its 40th anniversary on 2 November

On 2 November, NIB is hosting a two-hour seminar entitled “Financing the Future” to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The event will feature high-ranking political decision-makers from the Bank’s member countries.

NIB began its operations in 1976 as the result of a joint decision by the five Nordic countries, voted on during an extra Nordic Council session one year earlier. To emphasise the Bank’s historical roots, the NIB 40th anniversary seminar is being held in connection with the annual session of the Nordic Council and the meeting of Nordic–Baltic Prime Ministers in Copenhagen. The event is part of the programme for Finland’s chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2016.

The event will be opened by Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, followed by NIB President & CEO Henrik Normann, who will give an overview of the Bank’s current standing in the Nordic–Baltic region. The keynote speech on the role of innovation policy in shaping and creating markets will be delivered by Mariana Mazzucato, Professor in the Economics of Innovation at the University of Sussex. The seminar programme will be closed by Latvia’s Minister of Finance, Dana Reizniece-Ozola.

The anniversary seminar will accommodate only invited guests.
