NIB and Norway’s Sparebank 1 Nord-Norge have launched a NOK 500 million (EUR 52 million) loan facility for small and medium-sized enterprises and environmental projects in northern Norway.

Eligible projects to be financed from the lending facility should conform to NIB’s criteria for SMEs.

“NIB is looking forward to fruitful cooperation with Sparebank 1 Nord-Norge, which is a new customer for us. SME financing is of extreme significance for Norway’s Arctic area, where SNN has a wide service network, as well as for the entire Nordic–Baltic region. Hence, the improved access to financing will help raise the productivity of smaller businesses”, says Henrik Normann, NIB President & CEO.

Sparebank 1 Nord-Norge, a member of the nationwide Sparebank 1 Alliance, is a leading provider of financial services in northern Norway. It operates 59 branches and has more than 270,000 retail customers and 33,000 corporate customers.

NIB is an international financial institution owned by eight member countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The Bank finances private and public projects in and outside the member countries. NIB has the highest possible credit rating, AAA/Aaa, with the leading rating agencies Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.
