NIB lends for Getinge AB’s R&D programme

NIB and the Swedish healthcare equipment supplier Getinge AB have signed a loan agreement totalling EUR 70 million. The eight-year loan will finance the company’s R&D investment programme for 2014–2017.

The NIB-financed programme focuses on advancing new products in the company’s three business areas: medical systems, infection control and extended care, which offers products and services for hospitals and the elderly care.

Getinge has significant parts of its R&D located in Sweden and Denmark, benefiting the region‘s already strong medical cluster. In its R&D, the company has previously utilised the competence in NIB member area, for instance to develop new ICT systems and applications. Within Sweden, Getinge has moved its headquarters in Lindholmen Science Park, Gothenburg, which is expected to foster even more collaboration with other companies and research institutes in the area.
