NIB and Kiinteistö Oy Järvenpään Terveystalo have agreed on a 27-year loan totalling EUR 20 million for the construction of a new healthcare centre in the town of Järvenpää in southern Finland.

The health centre, with a floor space of 12,100 square metres, will combine health and social services provided by the town. The project amounts to EUR 51 million. The town of Järvenpää, with a population of 40,000, is employing the innovative Virtual Planning and Building model to design, construct and maintain the new health centre.

It is expected that the new centre will improve the cost efficiency of municipal health and social services by up to 9% by 2030, compared to the costs the municipality would incur using the current facilities.

“The NIB loan will help achieve higher productivity in the local healthcare sector. We believe this is an effective way to respond to the challenges the health care industry is facing with the ageing of the population”, says Henrik Normann, NIB President & CEO.

The new centre is also expected to consume 3,100 MWh/year of energy, 10% less than the current facility, a decrease that equals approximately 60 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Kiinteistö Oy Järvenpään Terveystalo is a wholly municipality-owned company.

NIB is an international financial institution owned by eight member countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The Bank finances private and public projects in and outside the member countries. NIB has the highest possible credit rating, AAA/Aaa, with the leading rating agencies Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.
