NIB supports environmental projects, SMEs and SMCs in Sweden

NIB and Swedish Sparbanken Alingsås AB (SA) have signed a EUR 29.3 million or SEK 300 million loan agreement for on-lending to environmental projects and small and medium-sized enterprises and smaller mid-caps in Sweden.

A substantial part of the seven-year loan facility is allocated to local SMEs and smaller mid-caps in Västra Götaland County in the southwestern Sweden. This is the first cooperation between NIB and Sparbanken Alingsås, hence, allowing NIB to extend its geographical reach and support SMEs and SMCs in a new region.

SA´s environmental policies require all corporate loans of SEK 1 million or more to undergo a sustainability analysis prior to credit decisions. NIB and SA have agreed that 30 percent of the loan programme will be used for on-lending to environmental projects such as green buildings and solar panels.

Founded in 1833, Sparbanken Alingsås is a Swedish regional independent savings bank with operations in Västra Götaland County in the southwestern Sweden. The bank targets its operations to the consumers and small and medium-sized companies of the region.
