Jorma Ollila: Nordics stand to gain hugely on closer energy cooperation

In June 2017, Jorma Ollila, a CEO of Nokia at a time when the company was a world leader, presented his report “Nordic Energy Cooperation Strong Today—Stronger Tomorrow” to the Nordic Council of Ministers. As part of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ reform project and one in a series of strategic reviews previously conducted on Nordic cooperation in different areas, Mr Ollila’s report includes concrete proposals that build on success the region has achieved in interconnectedness, production of renewable energy and decarbonisation of the economy.

NIB Newsletter has met with Mr Ollila to discuss the critical aspects and full potential of Nordic energy cooperation.

Renewables: More for less

The costs of renewable energy in the world are lower than ever, and 2016 saw a record amount of new capacity installed. These are the findings of recently published reports on global renewable energy progress. This is very promising for the green transition we are facing, says Svend Søyland, a Nordic energy expert, in an interview with the NIB Newsletter.
