Klaipeda LNG terminal: competition adds energy security

The new natural gas terminal, a 290-metre vessel, is permanently moored to a jetty at Lithuania's seaport of Klaipeda and connected to the Lithuanian gas grid. The first LNG cargo was delivered already on 28 October. “The LNG terminal is a strategic project to improve energy diversity and security of supply. We expect first gas transactions to our neighbour countries very soon. More interflows will appear in the coming future, and that will decrease the price for consumers in this region”, says Mantas Bartuska of Klaipedos Nafta AB, the terminal operator.

Thoman Bustrup

Competitiveness of SMEs a must for success

The success of the Nordic-Baltic region depends on the adoption of advanced technologies. State policies should, therefore, encourage the entrepreneurship and internationalisation of SMEs. The first order of business should be to ease access to finance for SMEs, writes Thomas Bustrup, Deputy Director General Confederation of Danish Industry, in his column.
