NIB revises its Sustainability policy and guidelines

A draft Sustainability Policy and Guidelines is now published. NIB invites comments from interested companies, organisations and individuals before the Policy's launch later this spring.

The draft policy text is no longer available on the website after the 30-day period for disclosure was expired on 6 March.

NIB finances gasification-based bioenergy plant in Vaasa, Finland

A new loan to Vaskiluodon Voima Oy will finance the construction of a gasification-based bioenergy plant in western Finland. Vaskiluodon Voima is building the new plant in order to decrease the use of coal in energy production.

Johnny Åkerholm: Basel III outdated before the ink has dried

"I doubt the wisdom of regulating the financial system in such great detail. It will provide wrong incentives to the financial sector," said NIB President Johnny Åkerholm in his remarks on the new Basel model at a conference held by Finland's Financial Supervision Authority.
