The Bank has decided to earmark EUR 1 billion to continue loan allocation under its Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (CLEERE) lending facility.
Since 2008, when the facility was launched, NIB has committed EUR 3 billion to projects aimed at promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency and other measures of abating and adapting to climate change.
Within the CLEERE framework, NIB has financed 84 environmental projects, including the offshore wind turbine parks Horns Rev II and Anholt, hydropower plants, energy efficiency improvement programmes for buildings, and municipal infrastructure in many countries both in and outside of the membership area.

NIB loan to large wind farm project in Sweden
NIB has provided a EUR 61 million loan to DNB Bank ASA. The funds will be onlent to finance one of northern Europe’s largest onshore wind farms, in Jädraås, eastern Sweden.
