NIB funds Danish Haldor Topsøe’s R&D on catalysts

NIB and the Danish technology company Haldor Topsøe A/S have signed a loan agreement totalling DKK 250 million (EUR 33 million) aimed at financing the company’s R&D investment.

NIB is financing a programme in which Haldor Topsøe, one of the global leaders in catalyst production, is developing catalysts and technologies for energy efficient processes used for removing harmful emissions, production of clean fuels and power generation. The company is also researching the direct conversion of biomass into valuable chemicals as well as the use of bioethanol for diesel engines.

“Haldor Topsøe’s research and development investment, which aims at lower levels of harmful emissions, is a very good example of a project that fulfils NIB’s mandate. This investment will help improve the environment and kick start innovation in a variety of industries,” says Henrik Normann, NIB President and CEO.

Established in 1940, Haldor Topsøe is a market leader in heterogeneous catalysis, catalytic reactions and catalytic process technology. The company has production facilities in Denmark and the US, and an engineering company in India.
