The 12-year-maturity loan totalling EUR 19 million has been provided for financing the construction of a wind park. The new wind park, located in Tornio in northern Finland, is estimated to be taken into use in the end of 2010. The wind park will have a capacity of some 30 MW and the average electricity output per year will total 80 GWh. The project is Rajakiiri's first wind park out of three planned.
Rajakiiri's wind park is to be located in the vicinity of an already developed industrial area and is thus not expected to have negative effects on the environment.
As the electricity generation from the wind begins supplementing fossil fuel-based energy production, the indirect emissions of CO2, NOx and SO2, as well as particulates, will decrease. The project is allocated under the CLEERE facility.
