Project

The 5-year-maturity loan totalling GBP 74 million (EUR 95 million) has been provided as part in a syndicated loan facility for the acquisition of the British brewery company Scottish and Newcastle's (S&N) share of the beer producer Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH) and S&N's operations in France, Greece, China and Vietnam. The acquisition will give Carlsberg full control over BBH, which is Carlsberg's key growth asset in Russia and neighbouring markets. The acquisition will also enhance Carlsberg's positions in Europe and East Asia. Carlsberg is one of the world's leading producers of beer and soft drinks sold in more than 150 markets. The Carlsberg Group employs more than 30,000 people in 48 countries.

Environmental summary

The acquisition is estimated neutral in respect to its environmental impact as the project does not involve building of any new capacity or refurbishments. The risk for any future large scale environmental liabilities is regarded as small.
