The loan totalling EUR 150 million, of which 50% has been provided with a maturity of 7 years and 50% of 9 years, will finance research and development investments in Sweden and Finland for the next generation mobile broadband technology, enabling operators to make better use of scarce spectrum resources.
Founded in 1876 with its headquarters in Stockholm, Ericsson is a world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment and services to mobile network operators.
The project finances Ericsson’s strategic R&D at multiple locations in the member area. It will help grow the company’s substantial patent portfolio in a highly competitive global industry. The high penetration rates of mobile technology in the member area imply broadly-based shared benefits.
NIB considers investments in research and development of telecom equipment neutral from an environmental point of view.
