MetroMetro heads west
A new metro stretch westward from Finland's capital city, Helsinki, to its satellite Espoo is the country's largest infrastructure project. The main environmental benefit of the project is the transfer of passengers from road to rail and the reduction of traffic congestion in the city centre of Helsinki.

GabrielsbergetGabrielsberget: Catching the winds of the north
Sweden's Svevind AB is building the country's largest wind farm, Gabrielsberget, on a mountain overlooking the Gulf of Bothnia in in the northern part of the country. NIB has participated in the project with two loans totalling EUR 68 million.

In 2010, more than half of the total amount of lending outside of the member countries, was provided to financial intermediaries.
