The Board of Directors makes policy decisions in matters that involve lending, borrowing, and administrative questions. The Board of Directors approves the financial transactions proposed by NIB's President. The Board of Directors is responsible for the financial statements. The Board of Directors may delegate its powers to the President to the extent considered appropriate. The Board of Directors consists of eight Directors, each of whom has one Alternate. The Directors and their Alternates are appointed by the respective member country. The Board of Directors appoints a Chairman and a Deputy Chairman from among the Directors. The chairmanship and the deputy chairmanship rotate among the member countries. The Board of Directors usually meets eight times a year (please see Upcoming events).

Henrik Normann appointed new President of NIB
The Board of Directors of the Nordic Investment Bank has appointed Henrik Normann (Denmark) President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. Mr Normann will take up his appointment on 1 April 2012. He will succeed Mr Johnny Åkerholm (Finland), who has been President and CEO of NIB since April 2005.
